Projet Description
Nishi-Azabu is characterized as a gathering place for cosmopolitan individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and wealthy Japanese residents of Minato-ku. Given its unique social environment, where various cultures intersect despite being located within Japan, creating a coexistence of different perspectives and values, we introduced the keyword "Neo-Japanese." We aimed to further develop this concept by blending the beauty of Japan as seen through diverse international perspectives with familiar elements of Japan's unique identity, achieving the most sophisticated expression possible. This involved elevating traditional Japanese elements to a luxurious level and creating a new style. The facility is designed with a lounge and bar on the first floor and private rooms on the second. Each floor features a distinct spatial design. Natural materials such as wood, copper, stone, and iron are used, and the imagery of latticework and translucent shoji screens in Japanese architecture is expressed through contemporary techniques. The entrance features brown plaster and bonsai, emphasizing Japanese aesthetics. The art pieces in each room are selected to evoke the natural beauty and climate of Japan, and are finished in a modern style to enhance the design concept of the space. By leveraging the local characteristics of Nishi-Azabu, we aimed to create a sophisticated design space.
